COMPANY HISTORY

In 2004, a UK born producer called Special Mix, now living in Canada had just produced a Reggae song. He was looking for radio DJ’s around the world to help promote his new song. He came across a name that reminded him of home. That name was Brixton Hitman. Special Mix, used to live 20 minutes from Brixton Station in London, England so he called up this radio DJ. They started talking and both realised that even though they where both born in England and now living in foreign countries, they both yearned for that party vibes playing UK Lovers Rock and Dancehall from back home. We wanted English Pound Radio to give UK Reggae music a home, where any one around the world could tune in and enjoy the vibes that we knew and loved. We knew that we could not do this alone. So we started looking for other UK born radio presenters, who also lived abroad, to offer some time and do a show on English Pound Radio. The response was enormous. We now have UK DJ’s living in Miami, New York, San Francisco, Toronto, Missouri and Hawaii. We then started getting requests from DJ’s still living in the UK to join. We now have DJ’s from Leeds and London. English Pound Radio was finally giving a universal home for UK Reggae artistes. But the story gets better ;-) We started getting positive love and support from other Reggae artistes around the world, asking us to play their music and videos.

Our simple process to play Reggae songs and videos is straight forward, as long as its radio edited and non offensive, we will play it. We have played Reggae videos from all over the world, some not even in the English language. We at English Pound are here to give Reggae song makers and listeners a platform to enjoy their nice Reggae music, 24hrs a day / 7 Days a week. But one thing we noticed was that most of the popular club and party DJ’s where still playing music that was not uplifting to our youths or playing music so offensive, that it could not be played in front of Grandma or small Children.

All of our radio DJ’s around the world, play at functions promoting positive Reggae and Dancehall music. We also love to play and promote all the songs that we play on our Radio and TV channels.
